Spring is here and warmer months are ahead, here are some tips on helping your home and yard recover from winter and prepared for summer.
Inspect exterior wood structures (children's play set, fences, deck, etc.) and see if they need painting or re-sealing.
Hammer down any deck nails that have popped up over winter, better yet replace them with deck screws.
Check your roof for loose or broker shingles.
Check window and door screens for tears.
Clean up any leaves, branches or other debris that may have fallen onto your lawn over the winter months.
Inspect concrete driveways, patios and sidewalks for cracks, repair with concrete caulk or patch.
During the months you won't be using your fireplace, install a screen over the chimney to keep out debris and animals.
Check attic fans and vents to make sure that proper ventilation is maintained during the warmer months of spring and summer.
Clean lint from your clothes dryer exhaust to reduce the risk of fire and to improve the performance of the appliance.
Check swimming pools; pump connections, diving boards and slides for cracks, damage or loose fittings.
I hope these tips help you prepare your home for the upcoming spring months. If you, friends or relatives ever need help in buying or selling a home we hope you keep us in mind.
